Build a Career in the Building Industry with The Prosperity Christian Resource and Community Housing Development Center's, Facilities Maintenance Education Program

What is Facilities Maintenance?

Facilities Maintenance is a combination of several trades. A student enrolled in Facilities Maintenance can expect to learn the basics of all these trades:

  • Carpentry
  • Masonry
  • Electrical Wiring
  • Painting
  • Landscaping
  • Plumbing

Facilities Maintenance graduates are expected to maintain, as in doing upkeep and making general repairs. When a repair becomes too technical, such as replacing a boiler instead of replacing a broken sink, then the specialists are called.

A good maintenance technician knows when he or she can take care of a problem, and if the situation requires the expertise of a specialist, such as an electrician or a plumber. Time is money, and calling in the wrong contractor can be a costly mistake!

What do you need to enroll in The Prosperity Christian Resource and Community Housing Development Center's, Facilities Maintenance Education Program?

  • A commitment to get your GED or high school diploma, if you don't one.  Good math skills and reading are important to learning the trade's basics, operating tools and working safely.
  • A commitment to get your driver's license if you don't have it. A license is as crucial as a pair of work boots-you need both to get to the job site.
  • An eye for detail. Enjoy working with your hands.
