Purpose
The Prosperity Christian Resource and Community Housing Development Center's, Drug Free By Choice mission, is a drug and alcohol education program. The program focuses on discouraging students from abusing drugs by providing factual information about the effects of alcohol and other drugs. It provides age appropriate substance abuse and prevention education. The topics include

This contest invites students to submit 1 page essays and posters in response
to an idea or question concerning drug and alcohol Monetary awards are given to the winners. Judging will result in the selection of the following:
Research has shown that academic and social achievement often help to serve as possible positive protective factors against drug and alcohol abuse. Inversely, those individuals who have negative factors, such as low academic or social achievement are at high risk of using and developing addictions to drugs or alcohol. With committed staff and an effective drug prevention program, the Drug Free By Choice Mission empowers individuals to become leaders in their community.
The Drug Free By Choice program incorporates living skills, teaching healthy ways of coping with numerous family, social, academic and environmental pressures. The program brings universality to children and helps them realize that all families and individuals have difficulties at times and that all families and all people are special.
A highlight of the program is the emphasis that each child is unique and special just the way he or she is, and that each child can learn how to handle difficulties in healthy ways. Just as importantly, children learn personal responsibility for their own behavior and choices.

amphetamines, inhalants, steroids, other
illegal drugs and additional topics upon request. Presentations are flexible in
format, using an interactive approach. The length of programs are variable,
however the standard program is 45 - 50 minutes in duration.
Alcohol
Awareness Essay and Poster Contest. The Drug Free By Choice Program is
non-discriminatory and is open to middle school students in the 6th, 7th, and
8th grade. Only those who complete entry forms that are received by the 
abuse. Committee members
judge the entries and evaluate them based on factual knowledge, creativity, and
the relevancy of the entry to the original idea. 
The Drug Free By Choice Program Committee also publishes a newsletter
as funding permits, on issues that deal with drug use among young people. This newsletter is sent to all of the organizations and individuals on our mailing list.
