What is Electrical Wiring? Electricity is essential for light, power, air conditioning, and refrigeration. Electricians are needed to install, connect, test and maintain systems for a variety of purposes, including climate control, security and communications. Electrical wiring is essential to installing, repairing or maintaining these systems. They must follow the National Electric Code (NEC) and comply with State and local building codes when they install these systems. Electricians work with blueprints which mark the location of circuits, outlets, load centers, panel boards and other equipment. They use testing equipment, such as ohmmeters and voltmeters to check the circuits for proper connections, ensuring electrical compatibility and safety. How long will it take to graduate? That is up to you. In The Prosperity Christian Resource and Community Housing Development Center's, Electrical Wiring Education Program you learn at your own pace. The average time of completion is 12 months. Students wishing to learn more technical skills take more time. What type of job can you expect as a Electrical Wiring Education Graduate? As a Electrical Wiring Education Graduate you will have the entry level skills you will need to start a career in the electrical field. You may want to start out with an apprenticeship in electrical wiring or a job as an electrician helper. There will be many job possibilities as your electrical skills will be in great demand by electrical, general and rehab contractors as well as developers.
What will be expected of you as a Student?
How much can you earn? Entry-level electrical wiring graduates, earn on average $8.00 to $12.00 an hour in their first job after graduation. Additional training through apprenticeships or on the job training will upgrade your skills and help expand your career options.
Is Electrical Wiring Education for you? Electrical wiring is a rewarding career and very much in demand. Electrical work can keep you physically active, and bending or standing for long periods of time. The work environment varies, depending on the job. Sometimes you may work in dusty, dirty, hot or wet conditions, or in confined areas and ditches.
