Purpose

The Prosperity Christian Resource and Community Housing Development Center's, New Beginnings Outreach Mission, was created for the purposes of providing an Ex-Offender and Recovering Alcohol and Drug User Reentry program for men and women making the difficult transition back to the community from prison and drug treatment centers and for providing a visitation program for the benefit of inmates of institutions.

The New Beginnings Outreach Mission works with offenders and individuals recovering from drug and alcohol addiction prior to and immediately following their release from prison or drug treatment centers to educate, mentor, provide life skills training, job skills development, and goals, objectives and progress assessments. The program connects individuals who have left the supervision of the justice system and drug treatment centers with a network of social services agencies and community based organizations to provide ongoing services and mentoring relationships.

Nearly 650,000 people are released from incarceration yearly and arrive on the doorsteps of communities nationwide. The Prosperity Center's, New Beginning Outreach, offers guidance and direction to Ex-Offenders as they prepare to go home and stay home. It aids in the physical and spiritual rehabilitation of men and women upon their release from a correctional institution or drug treatment center and provides re-entry education strategies that promote community safety and help to reduce future serious, violent crimes by repeat offenders or individuals under the influence of substances.

The New Beginnings Outreach program is:

  • a Biblically centered ministry program designed to teach inmates how their world and life view relates to every area of life.
  • intended to emphasize that the Scriptures are relevant to every area of their lives.
  • structured to communicate how thoughts, attitudes and actions that have caused so much difficulty in the past can be changed.
  • presented within a context and atmosphere that will enhance the receptivity and impact of the material presented.
  • designed for the purpose of bringing about an effective and measurable change in inmates and ex-drug and alcohol users.
  • designed to allow individuals to return to society as people who are prepared and willing to be productive citizens in the community.
  • presented with a value system that is based on personal responsibility and accountability.

Some of the topics addressed in the program include:

  • Acceptance as a person.
  • Getting along with those around us.
  • Forgiveness-What it means and what it accomplishes.
  • How to handle "going to prison."
  • How to handle "getting out of prison."
  • "Breaking the Cycle."
  • Responsibility and accountability to family, job and authority.
  • Setting Short Term Goals and Objectives.
  • Setting Long Term Goals and Objectives.
  • Getting Started - Making goals and objectives happen.
