Purpose

The Prosperity Christian Resource and Community Housing Development Center's, College Bound Bunch mission focuses on improving academic success and readiness for students so that they will be prepared to enter colleges and universities upon high school graduation.  This program provides educational preparation for middle school and high school students. 

During the school year students participate in weekly tutoring, college visits, counseling sessions and Saturday programs. There are many students who have no idea what universities offer or that there is financial aid available so that they can afford a higher education. 

Our program educates students and their families, to make them aware of resources available to them for the purpose of attending college.  Students attend intensive 10 - month long Saturday Schools where teachers and volunteers teach math, literature, writing, study skills and time management.  Support to students also includes connections to summer enrichment programs, bible study,  PSAT, SAT, and ACT test preparation, scholarships, and internships. The College Bound Bunch Program also offers standardized practice testing to students beginning in the sixth grade, helping them to build confidence!

The College Bound Bunch program also provides training and education on Employment Preparation and Job Readiness and Financial Responsibility skills.

Employment Preparation:

In Employment Preparation Training students learn about - Resume Writing, Interview Tips and Techniques, Goals and Action Plans, Job Search Skills, Professional Communications, and Problem Solving to name a few. The goal of the class is to prepare each student to be able to answer:

• "What style resume should I use?"
• "How should I answer that question if a potential employer asks it?"
• "What should I do to prepare for an interview?"

Job Readiness and Financial Responsibility:

During Job Readiness and Financial Responsibility Sessions students learn the importance of job planning and preparation in today’s job market. This course takes individuals through the application process and an extensive resume workshop where the student will learn to create their own resume. The workshop will also show the student how to conduct themselves during an interview. This course also deals with financial responsibilities of everyday life. The students learn how to clear up their past credit history and learn how to live a lifestyle that is debt free.
